ATEX Explosion Testing

Explosion testing of our range of Rotary Valves is complete and our standard valves are certified as APD devices.
An APD is a valve that can contain an explosion- if a part of your process has an unfortunate explosion, then our rotary valves are certified by a third party, Basseefa, to contain that explosion pressure to 10.5 bar and not transmit a flame.
The testing was done by bolting the test units to a chamber with an explosive powder inside. The powder was ignited with the valve running and high speed cameras and data loggers monitored the internal pressure, temperature and flames at the valve outlet.
Big custom butterfly valve
We've just finished some 1600mm diameter butterfly valves for Cemex.
They're custom designed and machined to a close tolerance finish to isolate ductwork in the main Cemex cement plant at Rugby.
The valves have stainless braced vanes and fabricated steel bodies with our simple yet very effective sealing sytem on both vane and shafts. The ultra-reliable Kinetrol pneumatic actuator powers the valve and it's fitted with a 4-20mA positioner to control the vane position.
It's also ATEX rated to zone 22.
