Specials

To many companies, a "special" is a valve with different flange drilling or materials.

To MID, a "special" is a custom designed, one-off valve for a particular application which may never be made again.

We have made valves from the very small that can be held in your hand right up to valves you can drive a car through.

We use the latest in development techniques- 3D CAD, stress analysis and rapid prototyping.

Exotic materials such as Hastelloy and Kalrez are also used for chemical compatablity in some cases.

Recent projects:

Small diverter valve for a domestic heating boiler. We produced this using stereo lithography (a rapid prototyping technique) to manufacture moulds from which we made a number of prototye valves.

Mixer outlet valve. This was a specific D shape to match the existing mixer profile and had to be self-cleaning, self-adjusting, maintenance free and ultra-reliable.

10 bar diverter valves (shown above). Handling cellulose flake, the whole 450mm conveying line was rated to 10 bar- the valves were made with dished sides and explosion containment chambers.
