Bespoke petfood slide valve

This valve is the third of three valves supplied to a household petfood manufacturer. It is mounted on the end of a mixer which mixes the meat before it drops into the cooking and canning process.

The brief was to design a valve to fit an existing mixer. The main features were:

• Provide an effective seal against water and meat
• Offer a clean face to prevent product hangup
• Be self adjusting for wear
• Run for 12 months without maintenance
• Have easily changed wearing parts
• Made of food quality materials
• Easy to clean using automatic spray systems

All of the requirements were met with the first two valves and the learning curve experience on the first two was applied to the third.
